Arie and me went to the funeral of the grandmother of Msechu. She past away last night. We went together with Sam and a couple of the students. We took the daladala to usa-river and then we had to walk for an hour. It was a very nice walk to the house of Msechu’s grandmother. There were a lot of rice plantations in that area and in contradiction to KFI area it was all very flat. The funeral was impressive. It was a Muslim funeral, there was a lot of singing while the men where digging the grave. All the women weren’t allowed to be at the grave locations. Very strange in our culture, but at that location it didn’t bothered us much. Here this is normal. After the funeral we went to the former house of the grandmother. Al people got some Pilau (rice dish) and a cup of (very sweet) black tea. Enough in our stomach for the walk back!
It was an impressive day!
